It was a Breast Cancer Awareness Night to remember for the Cariboo Cougars.

The defending BCMML champions skated to a 5-1 win over the South Island Royals on Saturday from Kin 1.

It would be the visitors drawing first blood just 58 seconds into the game as Rowan Miller notched one past Marcus Allen for the early 1-0 lead.

The lead didn’t last courtesy of Hunter Floris who beat Connor Cheyne to tie the game at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

Cariboo took the lead for good in the second period when Craig MacDonald and Paul Hauk gave the Cougars their first two-goal advantage making it a 3-1 at the conclusion of the middle frame.

In the third, Brennan Malgunas added to the lead to ice the victory for Cariboo.

The Cougars are now 8-2-1 on the season and will host South Island again on Sunday at 10 AM from Kin 1.
