Camp is just two weeks away, and before the season starts and my schedule gets CRAZY busy, I'm down on the Sunshine Coast vacationing. Nevertheless...there's always news surrounding the Cougars, so here's some quick hits.
- The league sent the Cougars official notification and confirmation for the staff. Trevor Sprague is the Head Coach, Andy Beesley is Manager, with Chris Rowland and James Morrison bought on as Assistant's. This isn't exactly 'ground breaking', but it's been made official none-the-less.
- The schedule has been released and will be available on the BC Hockey web site shortly, as well as here. The Cougars open away at UBC (along with the rest of the league) on September 18/19 against the NW Giants. 7 days later the Cougars have their home opener (and broadcast opener) against the Fraser Valley Bruins (6:30pm Saturday and 10:30am Sunday).
- The team will be travelling to Penticton on the weekend of September 10-12 for a tournament with 7 other teams. The Cougars will open against the Okanagan Hockey Academy team 2:45pm on Friday. Two other BCMML teams are playing (Okanagan and Kootenay), combined with a teams from Spokane, Portland and Wenatchee in the US. More information to come in the coming days.
That's about it from here in the off-season. Plans for the broadcast continue to take shape. Going to be sitting down with Jerome after vacation to sort out some of the details. The internet upgrade to Kin 1 is complete, so Jerome and I are looking forward to bringing Cougar fans a great, high-quality broadcast that the team, region and league can be proud of!
