Stay tuned throughout the afternoon for my live blog from this afternoon's game between team orange and team grey here at CN Centre. For instant updates, join us on Facebook from 4-6pm, or keep refreshing this page periodically for updates. The blog will include goal and event updates, as well as some interviews and thoughts posted throughout the game.
3:47pm Just did some interviews with Raymond Grewal, Justin Duncan and the two Jareds (Rathjen and Crossan). Look for those, as well as coach Sprague in the next 2 hours!
4:08pm We're underway! 50 minutes on the clock!!! Jared Rathjen starting for team gray, Jeremy Hipkiss for team orange. Coaches Jerome LaMarre (Orange) and Chris Roland (Gray) having some laughs prior to opening faceoff.
4:25pm First goal to Sten Sundin for Team Orange! Great individual effort to get into the offensive zone, then lost a handle on the puck, but regained to slide it home. 1-0 Orange with 30:37 left to play.
4:30pm Outstanding save at the other end from Jeremy Hipkiss. Robbing Braaten on the doorstep with the outstretched pad and glove combo. Drew a nice 'oooohhhh' from the crowd
4:33pm Colton Manning just drilled Raymond Grewal into the boards following Grewal clearing the puck from his own zone.
4:35pm First interview of the day is Raymond Grewal who was just drafted this summer by the WHL's Prince George Cougars. He talks about the draft, his expectations this season and advice from his brother.

4:44pm Was in a conversation and completely missed the 2nd goal to team Orange. 2-0 now with 12:14 left to play.
4:47pm Goalie change also as David Readman comes into the game for Gray. Nathan Warren into the game for Orange.
4:49pm Hayden Berra has been all around the net and just not been able to put it in. He's made the defence look pretty ordinary on some occasions, just not able to find twine.
4:53pm Berra FINALLY scored and makes it a pretty one too. Gets the puck just outside the slot, side swipes around a defenceman and puts it in off the right post. Really pretty goal that Chris Roland was pretty happy about. 2-1 Orange is the score with 2:36 to play.
4:57pm 3-1 Orange now. Chase Witala (I think) puts it home and that's the final as the buzzer goes. Score's are reset and another 50 minutes put on the clock!
4:59pm 2nd interview is a double header. Jared Crossan and Jared Rathjen both returned from Chilliwack Bruins training camp this morning (Crossan at 4am, Rathjen before noon). We talk to them both about being more experienced players at the camp, how that impacts their play and where they hope this season leads.

5:12pm 2nd Game is underway. Team Orange won game 1 by a score of 3-1. Interview with Coach Sprague is en route, as well, an interview with Justin Duncan talking about his injury and its impacts.
5:15pm Spoke with Trevor Sprague between the two games, he talked on what he saw in the first game, as well as the benefits of evaluating in game as opposed to drills.

5:19pm Stephen Penner ties this game up for Grey with a laser from the point that found the top corner on Jeremy Hipkiss' blocker side. Had a perfect angle on it from the press box!
5:24pm Curtis Bellamy just LAID OUT Eli Jarvis with a fantastic hit at centre ice. Jarvis immediately went to the bench hunched over. Got a great reaction from both benches.
5:35pm Penalty shot! Michael Bhatoa was held going in on the breakaway. Failed to score though. Still 1-1
5:36pm FIGHT! Well, a scruff. Whistle is blown as Curtis Bellamy and Levon Johnson drop the gloves. Shoving match ensues but the refs break it up before anything happens. Saw Bellamy go to the dressing rooms, I'd assume Johnson went too. Braydon Rubisch comes into the game...this is the first time I've seen him today, however he may have snuck into action during game 1.
5:41pm Final interview for today is Justin Duncan who is playing on team orange. He blew out his knee, injuring his ACL and MCL last season. He talks about how the injury happened, his recovery and the goals for this season.

5:46pm Josh Connolly may be listed as a defenceman, but you can tell that offensive nature must run in the Connolly gene pool. His brother Brett is NHL bound in the near future following 60 points as a rookie, and Josh isn't afraid to carry the puck in down low and makes some great moves with the puck. Talented family!
5:47pm Raymond Grewal scores for Orange to make it 2-1. Pinched down and was able to knock in a rebound from Braydon Rubisch. Grewal has been another player who has been very noticable on the ice today, in an entirely good way.
5:54pm Goal for Grey! Trevor Whynot I believe was the one who eventually knocked it in, but it was the hard work of Pederson that made it happen. And just as I write this, Orange score again to make it 3-2. Missed the scorers (damn not being able to touch type without looking!!!)
5:58pm You can really start to see some of the tired legs. The back and forth action is a lot slower and the changes are a little more lethargic. Can't say I blame them, training then two games, essentially skating ALL DAY.....wow! Under 3 minutes remaining.
6:03pm Grey pull the goalie...down by one!
6:05pm That's it. Orange hold on to win 3-2 and take the two-game set 2-0. Great job by both teams as Jerome LaMarre will have some bragging rights over Chris Roland. We'll do it all again tomorrow, not the live blog, but we'll have a couple of interviews, some coverage of the game from 9-11, then the all important cuts following that. Expect a final roster here tomorrow afternoon/evening. Thanks for tuning in!!!
