The Cariboo Cougars are off to Chase this weekend for their final two matchups of the season with the Thompson Blazers.

The Cats are 6-1-3 in their last ten games and have a chance to gain some distance in the standings as they look for one of the two first round byes through the first round of the playoffs.  Currently sitting in second place, eight points behind the first place Giants, the Cougars need a four point weekend to ensure they don't come out of their upcoming bye week further down the standings.

"We got to have a successful weekend because we're moving into our bye week and we got to have as many points as we can going in so that we're in a position where we can stay in second," said Cougars Assistant Coach Bryan MacLean.

Several Cougars are riding a hot streak coming into Saturday including Captain Tanner Fjellstrom who had six points last weekend against the Rockets, and forward Ryan Forbes who has nine points in his last four games.

"Our line was finally starting to gel there, we had some good chemistry going," said Forbes. "It was unforunate (Brett Roulston) got hurt there, but yeah we had some good chemistry leading up through the last few games."

Roulston suffered an upper body injury late in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Rockets and will miss both games this weekend.  Defenceman Colton Manning is also expected to sit due to a lower body injury.  Forward Liam Blackburn will travel with the team as an AP after playing Sunday against Okanagan.

The Blazers currently sit ninth in BCMML with a record of 8-19-5.

Puckdrop Saturday is 4:00pm at the Chase Art Holding Memorial Arena with Sunday's re-match starting at 11:00am.  Both games will be broadcast live at www.cariboocougars.ca.
