Cougars Invited to MAC's Tournament |

The Cariboo Cougars have once again been invited to play in the prestigious MAC's Midget Tournament.
The world's most highly regarded Midget tournament will be held in Calgary from December 26th to January 1st.
"The Cariboo Cougars are thrilled to be one of the very first teams invited to this year’s prestigious MAC's tournament," said Cougars Manager Andy Beesley. "It’s a real credit to the whole team, to have put themselves in the position to be considered among the elite midget hockey teams in Canada."
The MAC's tournament is an excellent opportunity for players to showcase themselves in front of scouts from across North America.
The Cougars currently sit in top spot in the BCMML Standings with a record of 8-4-2. |

Cougars Charge Admission for a Good Cause |

The Cariboo Cougars host the Thompson Blazers on Friday November 11 and Saturday November 12 and for these two games the team will be charging admission by donation with proceeds going to BC Children's Hospital.
The Cariboo Cougars will also have 7 year old Jameson Jones in attendance Friday nightat Kin 1 to drop the ceremonial puck. Jones was diagnosed with cancer almost 3 years ago. On two different occasions he's had to go through long bouts of cancer treatment at BC Chilidren's Hospital in Vancouver.
Tell your family and friends to come out to support a good cause and watch the top team in the BC Major Midget League!
Puckdrop Friday night is set for 7 pm at Kin 1, Saturday morning's game will be held at the Coliseum at 9:15 am. |

Connolly to Stay With Lightning |

Former Cariboo Cougar Brett Connolly has earned his NHL wings.
The 19-year old forward has been told by Tampa Bay Lightning General Manager Steve Yzerman he'll be staying with the big club as his rookie contract kicks in as of Thursday when he's expected to play his tenth NHL game, on the road in Nashville.
Connolly helped lead the Cariboo Cougars to the BCMML Championship in 2008 before being awarded the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as WHL Rookie of the Year the following season as a member of the Prince George Cougars.
Connolly was selected sixth overall by the Lightning in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and signed a three-year $2.7 million entry-level contract last July.
So far in his rookie NHL season, Connolly has earned two assists and is a plus 5.

The Cariboo Cougars are extremely excited to announce that Jeff Sargeant has agreed to come on board as the next voice of the Cariboo Cougars. Jeff is originally from the lower mainland, but has extensive travel throughout western Canada, ranging from Saskatchewan to the Kootenay's. He currently works at The Wolf/94X as a news reporter/anchor.
Jeff has experience in hockey play-by-play through the KIJHL's Beaver Valley Nitehawks, as well as working with UBC in their coverage of football, basketball, volleyball and hockey. Jeff will take over the duties vacated by Alex Rawnsley, who is moving to Powell River to become the new voice of the Powell River Kings in the BCHL.

The Cougars are now able to confirm the schedule and ice times for the 2011/2012 Training Camp for the 46 remaining players.
Friday Sept. 2; CN Centre 5:30pm: camp check in (at CN Centre – downstairs by the dressing room area) 6:45pm to 7:45pm: Group 1 drills 7:45pm: flood 8:00pm to 9:00pm: Group 2 drills
Saturday September 3; CN Centre 8:30am to 10:30am: Game (group 1 versus group 2) 12:00pm to 2:00pm: goalie session 5:00pm to 7:00pm: Game (group 1 versus group 2)
Sunday September 4; ELKS 9:00am to 11:00am: Game (group 1 versus group 2) 11:30am to 12:30pm: interviews/releases 12:30pm: Team parent/player meeting (plus PGSS registration etc.) |

46 Players Make Training Camp |

The Cariboo Cougars are proud to announce that 46 players have been asked to return to the September Training Camp. Around 90 attending the tryout camp this past weekend, and included in the list are 13 returning players from last year, 6 goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 30 forwards. 24 players are listed as from Prince George, 5 from Dawson Creek, 4 from Quesnel, 3 from Whitehorse and Kitimat, 2 from Williams Lake and 1 each from 100 Mile House, Fort St. John, Fort St. James, Terrace and Smithers.

The Cariboo Cougars are pleased to unveil the schedule for the 2011 Tryout Camp, running August 4th-7th. Around 100 players are expected to try out for the 2011 edition of the Cariboo Cougars, a team which has made it to the final the last two years. Looking to take the next step and win the league for the 2nd time in league history, hard work, dedication and talent will be required to make it to the next stage.

The Cariboo Cougars will be asking for admission this weekend, however much that is is up to you. The Cougars will be taking 100% of donations for this weekend's 'admission by donation' contests against the Silvertips and sending them as part of a care package to Vancouver for Jameson Jones, a young boy who is undergoing treatment to try and defeat cancer a 2nd time.
