Luke moved to Terrace at the age of 5 from Port Moody. He was born in New Westminster. He played all of his minor hockey in Terrace. Luke was captain of the team as a second year pee wee. His team won the skeena valley zone on 3 separate occasions. His second year bantam season his team won had a record of 18 and 0 in the skeena valley.
Luke is a very good athlete. On 4 separate occasions he has won a lacrosse provincial medal. They won a silver medal and gold medal in C level lacrosse provincials and a bronze and gold in B level lacrosse provincials and was twice named as a tournament all star. He has also been the central midfielder on a strong Terrace select soccer team that has won a silver and bronze medal at the provincial soccer tournaments as well as winning quite a few other tournaments.
Up until last season he has always been one of the leading if not the leading scorer on the hockey teams he has played for. He was not taken in the bantam draft and was very disappointed but he did receive numerous invites to WHL rookie camps. He ended up attending the Kelowna Rockets and Calgary Hitmen rookie camps. Both teams showed an interest with Calgary eventually listing him at the beginning of last season just as he made the Cariboo Cougars. He made it through the Hitmen main camp and was released recently. He hopes to make that team next season. He was also just recently affiliates with the Westside Warriors of the BCHL. Luke's strengths are his speed, vision and winning faceoffs. His favorite player was Brendan Shanahan that is why he wears number 14. He has often been compared to Jordan Staal of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
